There are two categories when it comes to women getting a new hairstyle: there are those who look at the most magazines they can and there are those who get an idea and that is all they want. My personal opinion is that it is good to gather some information before going to a hairstylist. One can look at magazines or on the internet.

There are many catalogues that have pictures of hairstyles of every hair type. We must remember that it isn’t enough to choose a style that we like we have to make sure that the given hairstyle fits the type of our hair. You can’t expect to have the perfect hairstyle that involves having straight hair if your hair is curly or wavy and vice versa. Don’t forget that hairstylists can’t make miracles happen. Most of the catalogues that one can find says for what type of hair the given style is the most suitable.

It is good to look at different hairstyles before entering a salon or while waiting, but I have some acquaintances that go to a salon and tell the stylist that they don’t care what he or she does, they just want they hair to be of a certain length. This is another way to get your hair done, but in this case there is no guarantee that you will be satisfied with the results.

Of course there never is real guarantee that if some has a nice hairstyle the same style will good look on you as well. There are other factors as well that have to be taken into consideration when choosing, such as the shape of the face. When looking for a new hairstyle, try to compare the head shape of the model to your own. If there is a big difference then you would better start looking for another one. Not just the head shape can influence your decision, but also the shape of the eyes. For example if a hairstyle looks good on an Asian model, it is very likely that it will not look so good on you too.

Another thing that you must observe when you look at different hairstyles is the color of the hair. If the model has different colors in her hair to enhance the visual impact and you wouldn’t like to color your hair, then the style still might look good on you, but it won’t be as interesting as in the case of the model. The other way round the exact opposite happens: you can make a not-so-interesting haircut very interesting if you add some colors (be careful not to add too much, because you might resemble with a parrot).

In conclusion the best advice I can give you related to haircuts is to make some research before deciding and take into consideration the factors that I have mentioned in order to be confident when you sit in front of the hairstylist that there is no way that you won’t like the results.
