Asian Hair Styles

Asian hair styles are usually associated with a certain, distinct look – sleek. Smooth. Silky. Flowing. Super straight. And typically reserved for those fortunate enough to have the kind of shiny black hair we associate with the Oriental look.

These days, Asian hair is increasingly in the spotlight with many Asian and Asian-American celebrities gracing the covers of fashion and film magazines.

Think of Lucy Liu from the film version of Charlie’s Angels. Zhang Ziyi, star of the movie Memoirs of a Geisha. Sandra Oh of Grey’s Anatomy. Gwendoline Yeo of Desperate Housewives. Shilpa from Celebrity Big Brother in UK.

While most of these stars wear their hair long and fairly straight, there are other Asian hair styles and trends emerging in both the Far East and in North America. We consulted with Ngoc Huynh to find out the latest.

Ngoc Huynh is a Vietnamese hair stylist who describes Asian hair as “hard” compared to other hair types because it is heavy, straight and quite resistant to curling and coloring.

This may be why so many women with Asian hair opt for a style that cooperates with their hair’s natural tendency to lie flat.

Huynh says the most popular Asian hair style in her country at the moment is what she calls the leaf or Japanese cut. This style builds layers into a pointed shape, making the most of the hair’s natural body and thickness. But Huynh says a new style is starting to take over from the long, straight look.

Brittle Fingernail Repair

Fingernails are made of a protein named keratin. This is the same protein that the hair is made of and that the body cells contain. However, it is not sufficient to maintain the hydration level of your fingernails. Therefore, if taking a good look at your fingernails they prove not to be perfectly rounded with a pink glow, and you may have to apply polish in order to cover your fingernails irregularities, than your fingernails are dealing with something bad.

Your actual sizeable nail grows from under the cuticle, in a place called the matrix, with an average of 0.1 mm per day. In order to have a constant and a healthy growth, your fingernails should be well taken care of, and as well you should have a proper diet, as “you are what you eat”. Therefore, if you have a vitamin or a mineral deficiency, you nails may become dry, cracked, brittle and even have irregular shapes.

Whether, it is too late to take further actions to prevent the brittle nails, here are some brittle fingernail repair tips. A full intake of B complex vitamins is needed – organ meats, fish, cheese, yogurt, milk, eggs, mushrooms, beans, avocadoes, bananas, nuts, seeds, , a diet that contains enough calcium – dark green leafy vegetables, almonds, beans, sardines, to get to the nails as well, essential oils like omega-3  – tuna, salmon, tout, herring, nuts, seeds, tofu, should never lack.

This is kind of all one can say about a healthy diet for brittle fingernail repair, but there is more than a healthy diet to lead to the fingernail repair. There are some beauty tips anyone, can do at home, in order to have beautiful nails. One should soak the fingernails in olive oil, at least twice a week, for 10 to 15 minutes; should use a cuticle cream, as it helps nourish the cuticles and brittle damaged nails. This cream should be applied on the cuticles before going to bed at night time.

Every time one washes dishes or does work around the house, one should protect the nails with a pair of gloves, as the chemical substances harm your nails. Even though you may have long beautiful nails, on should never use the nails as tools. Avoid polishing too often your fingernails and as well the nail polish remover that contains acetone. Last but not least, water, the essential thing for every illness or disorder one may be suffering from, helps in taking care of brittle fingernails. Drinking a lot of water daily, will help in the hydratation of damaged nails, just as in the case of the skin and hair.

Brittle nails are not such a serious problem that one cannot handle, but one should do something about it, as soon as one observes.
