hair style – Puffy Braids with Braids

Part the hair on the side or the middle. I parted on the side and took it to a gradual part to the middle of the nape of her neck.

Part from the crown to the ear and pull into a ponytail.

Braid the ponytail and pull up another section of hair. Combine the braid into the ponytail and secure with another elastic.

Repeat to the endof the hair.

Then repeat on the other side.

70?s Hairstyles

Back in the 70’s, people did not pay too much attention to their hairstyles. The tendency was to look as natural as possible, as there weren’t too many styling accessories. Comparing to the early 50’s, though, women started in the 70’s having more attractive and trendy hairstyles. It was the time when the blow dryer was invented by Corsair and this changed a lot the way in which people, especially women, arranged their hair. There was an attitude of freedom of expression and the result was daring looks, colors and cuts. It can be considered the start of a new industry, that of hairstyling products.

At that time, there were no straightening lotions. Women had to actually iron their hair. This procedure needed time and attention, so that they wouldn’t have damaged their hair too much. Women preferred long straight hair to curly hair.

Afro hairstyle was pretty popular in the 70’s. Both men and women adopted this look. It was typical of afro-american people, who became more confident and proud, starting this new hairstyle trend. They would grow out their tightly coiled hair and the result was that huge puff that defines the afro style.

One weird but still popular haircut was the disco wedge. It is the exact opposite of what girls want their hair to look like today: with very much volume on the lower part of the hair. It is probably the most outdated hairstyle people are afraid to talk about.

The bob hairstyle is very chic nowadays as it was back in the 70’s. It can be done at any hair length, from a boy cut to hair long till shoulders. The main advantage of this hairstyle is that you don’t need to take maximum care of it, you just comb it and you’ll have a fresh look. It is a adequate hairstyle for curly hair too, only that it looks better if you have a long till shoulders hair.

When it comes to men, mullet was a very trendy 70′s hairstyle. Some women adopted this style too. The hair was trimmed short from the sides and front. The hair was longer at the back, most of the time down to the shoulders, creating a mixture between curly and fluffy hair.

For kid and for teens, the popular haircut at that time was the page boy. This was a hairstyle based on curling the back of the hair under and only up to the neck, then on the sides. The bangs kept all the curls going underneath and towards the face.

A celebrity who influenced hairstyle at that time was Ferrah Fawcett. She had a feathered hairstyle which was very easy to maintain. You just had to blow dry your hair in an up and under motion to make the hair fluffier and then blow it around your face to give the feather effect.

Even though, the tendency in the 70’s was to be as natural as possible, the looks of men and women changed in a good way. This was due to the freedom of expression which was characteristic for that period.
