Shaggy Hairstyles

When you hear about shaggy hairstyles the first picture that pops into your mind is someone from the 1970’s. The truth is that you are perfectly right since the peak of this style’s popularity was during the 70’s. This doesn’t mean that it is not popular nowadays, what is more, many celebrities are spotted having this type of haircut and they look great. This is a style that everybody can have, and I really mean it: it is perfect for men and women as well.

The essence of this hairstyle represents the layers that give a messy look to the hairstyle, but this doesn’t mean that it isn’t sexy. It has a kind of wild look that makes it very interesting. The most noticeable layers are around the face, so they form a kind of frame for it. The rest of the layers don’t only have an aesthetic role, but they also give volume to the hair. Although it is very easy to maintain, you have to careful to take care of it regularly so it won’t look dirty or flat.

There are three types of shaggy hairstyles. There are the short shags that feature shorter layers in front that frame the face and there are fewer layers in the back, so the natural volume isn’t sacrificed. The medium shags can have few or many layers, depending on how you like it better. If you choose to have fewer layers, your hair will have a sleek look and if you choose to have more layers your hair will have more volume. Long shags usually have fewer layers, because otherwise the hair would loot too messy. No matter what length you choose, typically the outermost layer is the longest providing a smooth finish.

After making some researches (since I have never had such a hairstyle) I have found many useful tips regarding the styling of shaggy hairstyles and I would like to share these with you, so if you will ever have shags you will know what to do with it. After you wash your hair you should towel dry it then spray some conditioner on it. In this case you must use a leave in conditioner. Then it is good to apply gel on the hair so it will be easier to work with. The most advisable is that you apply the gel using your fingers.

The next step is to comb the hair preferably using a wide toothed comb. After this you should apply volumizer. Then you can blow dry your hair using a medium barrel brush. In order to give strands lift you should lift them with your fingers while blow drying. Once the hair is dry it is good to apply hair wax especially to the ends to piece them out. If you want your hairdo to last you should apply hairspray so the first wind blow won’t ruin your work. If you wish you can also use shine spray so it will look even more catching.

Do It Yourself Wedding Hairstyles – Simple Elegance and Braids

diane-kruger-braided-hairstyle ...One of the most popular hairstyles that can be seen through the stars, as well as women seeking a simple but elegant hairstyle for a daytime even, even a do-it-yourself wedding hairstyle is hair with waves, or straightened hair with a braid through the front of the hair.

The first step to creating this hairstyle is to decide whether the hairstyle is going to be worn straight, or whether the hairstyle is going to be created with waves throughout the entire style. Through the hairstyle, you can easily create the appearance of waves with a large barreled curling iron and loosely creating curls within the hair. To create the straight hairstyles make use of anti-frizz serum and allow the hair to dry and straighten the hair with a flat iron.

The detail within this hairstyle can be seen through the front. To create the braided detail, take two to three inches of hair from one side, pulling it over towards the other side, across the forehead. Next, take an inch of hair from the side that the hair was pulled towards and use this hair to create a braid. While braiding the hair, pull the hair towards the back, on the side in which the hair is being pulled to – through the crown. Pulling the hair back while completing the braid can help to create a polished appearance of the braid, as pulling the hair down while braiding than pulling back can leave a gap within the hair.

After the braid has been completed, secure the braid, under the layer of hair that has been straightened, just over the ear. This will hide the pin and create a fun style that is also elegant.
