Uses For Old Lipstick

Ancient Egypt 4000 BC: first mentioned of cosmetic products. Uses for old lipstick were for different reasons: For example, women of a certain social position applied on the face a green cream of copper ore, in order to define features.  They used scented oils and painted eyebrows with a cream made from sheep fat and lead. It appears that they covered  the smell with body perfume. Egyptians used makeup cosmetics on mercury.

The ingredients of modern cosmetics are still a surprise to those who use them: for example, lipstick contains a gelatinous substance obtained from fish scales. This is called “pearl essence”, which is obtained from herring and is one of the many products derived from fish. Red color of lipstick is actually on carmine, resulting in crushing shells of certain insects. Cosmetics are used for external use to change or improve appearance of skin, hair, nails, lips and eyes. Paint for body, used as ornament for religious processions, was often used by primitive peoples. They used oil, conditioner, hair powder and paint. Many of these products originate in Asia, but were recorded for the first time in Egypt.

Ancient tombs contained vessels with cosmetics (Kohl pots) and applicators (cosmetic spoons). Egyptians used Kohl for blackening their eyes, the girl uses old lipstick for their lips, and nails were painted with henna. East, 1500 BC: In China and Japan, rice flour gave white girl. Eyelashes and eyebrows were plucked; teeth were painted with black or gold and hair and face dyed with henna. In other words, teens then look just like those of today.

Greece, 1000 BC: It is said that part of the upper class probably wear wigs to hide the fact that they did not use the bathroom too much. Moreover, both women and men wore wigs. And here was the fashion for face painting with white chalk or flour lead (however, no mentions of any lead poisoning).

If you ladies want some more color, choose glue iron ocher and cream as uses for old lipstick. They painted their palms with red henna, to look younger. These practices coincide, not surprisingly, with the discovery and preparing of the soap. They used charcoal pencils and bars of red paint. Rome, 100 A.C: Plates wrote: “A woman without color is like food without salt. Although an advanced civilization, the Romans wore butter on their cheeks, made their nails with sheep’s blood and polished them with fat from the same animal.

Their special contribution was the fashion in mud baths, supplemented with crocodile excrement, yet unknown effects. Men paint blond to appear younger. But hair dyes were so caustic, that led to complete baldness. Romans had slaves, and especially for facial makeup application. Beauty products have reached its peak during the Roman Empire – the coal face and the foundation called “Fucus” – when the ladies have had slaves specially trained to apply different makeup.

Middle Ages: Many of the above cosmetics have passed through the medieval period, the Crusaders bringing to East oils and perfumes. During the Renaissance, lead-based cosmetics were used unduly. Fourteenth century: cosmetics were seen as a real danger to health, and the uses for old lipstick was considered responsible for blocking the blood circulation. In England, red hair was fashionable. Women with high social position, put egg on face, during the day and at night sleeping, they put veal chops on the eye, to rejuvenate skin. A playwright of the time even wrote: A beautiful woman is like a delicacy.
