Asian hair styles are usually associated with a certain, distinct look – sleek. Smooth. Silky. Flowing. Super straight. And typically reserved for those fortunate enough to have the kind of shiny black hair we associate with the Oriental look. These days, Asian hair is increasingly in the spotlight with many Asian and Asian-American celebrities gracing the covers of fashion and film magazines.
Think of Lucy Liu from the film version of Charlie’s Angels. Zhang Ziyi, star of the movie Memoirs of a Geisha. Sandra Oh of Grey’s Anatomy. Gwendoline Yeo of Desperate Housewives. Shilpa from Celebrity Big Brother in UK. Ngoc Huynh is a Vietnamese hair stylist who describes Asian hair as “hard” compared to other hair types because it is heavy, straight and quite resistant to curling and coloring.
This may be why so many women with Asian hair opt for a style that cooperates with their hair’s natural tendency to lie flat.
Huynh says the most popular Asian hair style in her country at the moment is what she calls the leaf or Japanese cut. This style builds layers into a pointed shape, making the most of the hair’s natural body and thickness. But Huynh says a new style is starting to take over from the long, straight look.

While most of these stars wear their hair long and fairly straight, there are other Asian hair styles and trends emerging in both the Far East and in North America. We consulted with Ngoc Huynh to find out the latest.

Celebrity Hairstyles Of 2002
Even though it was some time ago, you still might be interested in celebrity hairstyles of 2002 for various reasons. I know that some time passed since then, but the hairstyles that celebrities had in that period might still be fashionable and we all know that for some people it doesn’t really matter whether a hairstyle is trendy or not, all that matters is that they like it and the truth is that I agree with them up to some point. The first celebrity whose hairstyle I would like to present is Alison Lohman. In that period she had a short straight hair with a down style. Her hairstyle also featured fringes. She has chosen a dark brown color and some highlights that are in the middle of red and brown. It doesn’t really matter that the color can’t be defined, all that mattered that she was looking amazing with the hairstyle. Allison Janney also had a very cute hairstyle. Her hair was medium long, a little over chin length. She had a straight bob hairstyle with a nice fringe that was a little longer than the usual ones, of about brow length. She has chosen a medium brown hair color with some blond highlights that create a very nice frame for her face.
Amanda Peet always gets her hairstyle right. At one event in 2002 she had an up-do hairstyle that featured medium length hair. She had some short layers in the front, which might also be considered long bangs. The color of her hair was brown with blonde highlights. Amber Valletta opted for a short, straight hairstyle. She has chosen a bob hairstyle that is side parted. The truth is that this type of parting is quite unusual in the case of bob hairstyles, but she looked stunning with it. She has chosen to have side swept bangs as well that are great to frame the face and her hair color is blonde over a dark base. Amy Irving decided to do something different with her hair and she has chosen a short hairstyle and extremely curly hair. She has layers all over her hair that add shape and texture to the hairstyle. Her hair color is somewhere in the middle between blonde and brown and she has blonde highlights that really create the illusion that she has some kind of crown.
In this period Christina Vidal has chosen to have long hair with curls and I think that it was a very good idea to let it loose. It looks very nice around her face and it creates a frame that is right for the facial structure that she has. Her hair was dark brown and she had some blue and purple streaks.
I hope that you liked these hairstyles and that you got some ideas referring celebrity hairstyles of 2002. There are many other hairstyles to be seen and to choose from. If your intention is to find a new hairstyle for yourself I am sure that you will find the right one.
